Remembering World-Renowned Forensic Pathologist Vincent Di Maio
Pathology/Biology Section Fellow Vincent Di Maio, MD, has died at the age of 81. Dr. Di Maio was a world-renowned San Antonio forensic pathologist who saw a suspicious pattern in a spate of infant deaths at a local hospital and pushed for an investigation that brought the "Angel of Death" to justice.
Dr. Di Maio was credited with raising the professional standards of the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office during his tenure as chief medical examiner from 1980 until his retirement in 2006.
